The Splendor & Spirit of Shasta

Join us for 5 inspiring days and nights of discovery for The Splendor and Spirit of Shasta: Aha! International Reunion and Visionary Artists Adventure and Retreat of Lake Shasta.  This retreat includes staying at a "castle" right on the lake, as well as two houseboat excursions of the mysteries and majesties of Shasta, other wilderness journeys and much more!  Each evening consists of uniquely inspired sessions and salons put on by the visionaries themselves.  If you have never seen this lake firsthand or have not been there in a while you owe it to yourself to attend this very special Aha! retreat.

Friday June 2 – Orientation to the Splendor.  Arrival is on Friday, June 2nd between 3pm and 6pm.  Your first day is all about orientation. First, you get checked into the “castle”, then relax with and get to know the other artists -- share a snippet of your own creative work, enjoy the beauty of the view of Lake Shasta (the shore is only 100 feet away!) and wander through the castle and immediate area.  An orientation dinner (covered by Aha!) starts at 7pm.  Dinner is followed by an opening-salon at the castle.

Saturday June 3 – Initiation in Inspiration:  A Special Lake Shasta Houseboat Adventure.  Join us on a wonderful excursion on the luxurious Aha! Lake Shasta Houseboat (very classy houseboat with two bathrooms, huge upper deck, kitchen, living room, etc.) and explore some of the 370 miles of shoreline of magnificent Lake Shasta.  We’ll have an afternoon / evening meal  (covered by Aha!) and then have a very special salon and discussion entitled Initiation in Inspiration.  This all takes place right on the houseboat and on the lake. And to cap it off we will view the Milky Way in a way you have never seen it before –  from the top deck of the houseboat.  One of our artists will provide mystical stories about Mt. Shasta as well as other inspirations.

Sunday June 4 – The Majesty of Burney Falls.  This day excursion starts in the morning with drive into splendor of the Shasta – Trinity National Forest.  We will visit the awe-inspiring and majestic area of Burney Falls where we hike in for about 1 hour to reach the stupendous waters. You will touch, see and feel the divinity of this region.  In the evening we will return and have our second salon and discussion at the Castle, this one entitled The Anatomy of Majesty.  This special salon will engage and involve all visionaries and leaders on the retreat.  Insights and revelations will come directly from the visionaries themselves. 

Monday, June 5 – Mt Shasta Excursion. This is a day trip to Mt. Shasta City nestled at the base of "the majestic one" (Mt. Shasta).  You will experience this unique mountain community and enjoy the delights of a mountain town steeped in mystery.  You will mix with the shop owners, unique organizations, esthetes, etc. who have come from around the world to live in this interesting township. In the evening at the Castle, we will have one of our deepest and widest adventures, called Exploring the Vision of the Future. This special salon will be a "vision quest for humanity" and not only includes great discovery but concludes with each visionary declaring his/her highest and deepest vision of the future for civilization.  

Tuesday, June 6 – Celebrating Splendor:  A Special Lake Shasta Houseboat Adventure.  Join us on our second and final excursion on the Aha! Lake Shasta Houseboat and explore more of the coves, splendors and beauties of the Lake.  Bald eagles and osprey are very common in and around the Lake.  We’ll start out in the morning and have a mid- day lunch on the boat and the lake.  Then in the afternoon we will have a special Celebrating Shasta Showcase.  This spirited celebration will include artists articulating their experiences and new found fountains of wonder or imagination and, after dinner (covered by Aha!), any final expressions of art and music. 

Wednesday, June 7 – Goodbyes in morning and then depart. Checkout is between 9am and 10am on Wednesday June 7.

WHO IS THIS RETREAT FOR: 

Aha! Members (reunion for members), as well as international visionaries, innovators and organization leaders, arts lovers, nature lovers, etc.  Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; there are only a total of 15 spots available - once they're gone, no more registrations can be accepted.

RETREAT PACKAGES

The following rates include all lodging and activities including houseboat excursions and all other group excursions.  It also includes both the meals on the houseboat and the orientation dinner on Friday evening.  Other meals are not covered in the price of the retreat - a variety of markets and restaurants are close by, and the artists cook and share meals together.  You also must supply your own air or ground transportation to the retreat location at Lake Shasta (car pools may be available from Southern California or from the SF Bay Area, so inquire about those.).  The retreat location is on the Sacramento Arm of Lake Shasta, which is about 15 miles North of Redding and about a 3 hour drive from Sacramento Airport.  Its about 4 hours by car from SF Bay and 9 hours from LA.  Registrants will receive further instructions and directions upon receipt of payment.  Plan to arrive on Friday, June 2nd between 3pm and 6pm

$250 Frugal Artists Package (3 days only) –  Fri to Mon or Sun to Weds. –  your own mattress, couch or futon in shared room / lodging space. 

$400 Frugal Artists Package – your own mattress, couch or futon in shared room / lodging space

$550 Basic Artists Package – your own bed in shared room.

$800 Deluxe Artists Package – your own double bed in your own room

$950 Deluxe Couples Package – your own double bed in your own room.

Nice private shower and bathrooms are shared by those on the retreat.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

If you are interested in attending this retreat, we recommend you sign up as soon as possible.   Once the Castle is full we will not be able to accept further registrants.  All registrations are subject to approval.   

REGISTRATION PROCESS:  The registration process is simple.  Send your payment, payable to Artists Helping Artists (Aha!), Attention:  Membership and Services Dept, 300 Redwood Dr.; Santa Cruz, CA  95060.  If paying by mail, please let us know it is coming by also sending an email to CalltoArts@cs.com and include: a) your art form or art field, b) your address and your email address ;  c) if you would like to make a special presentation or display at one of the nightly events.   Or you may pay with your credit / debit card online via PayPal using the PayPal payment buttons below. Registrants will receive further instructions and directions upon receipt of payment.  

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 16th.   Registrations are accepted on a first come / first served basis and the deadline for payments for this retreat is March 16, 2006 

REFUND POLICY:  Request for refunds for cancellation by artist are not possible if done in writing less than 60 days prior to the retreat. 50% credit to another retreat may be possible if requested.  (The only exception on a refund is for a participant that has not been approved as fit for the retreat.)
